It's reported to grow on an ultramafic mountain at 800 meters elevation where it gets extreme sun exposure. The species has developed nature defense mechanisms to this by adopting a compact stature and extremely hirsute hirsute (hairy) leaves and tendrils. Pitchers are squat and compact.
