Sarracenia purpurea 'Belly of Blood'In 1999, seeds of Sarracenia purpurea subsp. venosa were successfully germinated at the University of California. After several years of cultivation, a particularly robust and visually striking clone was selected in 2005 and later registered as a distinct cultivar. This compact yet vigorous plant is especially notable for its dramatic pitcher colouration: the lower portion of the pitcher forms a deep, blood red 'belly', while the upright hood displays
